A place in the FA Cup quarter-finals awaits the winner of what promises to be a thrilling contest between Championship side Reading and Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

League form goes completely out of the window where cup competitions are concerned and this will prove no exception to this rule. Indeed, the winner of this clash will gain financially and victory could provide a platform upon which to boost their respective league campaigns. Let’s face it, they both need it.

Reading enjoy home advantage and we feel that they can make this count to a certain degree. They don’t enjoy the best form in the Championship and head into this clash on the back of a 0-0 draw with Burnley, however their FA Cup record for the season makes better reading. They entered at the third round stage and started off with a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town, although they put the Terriers to the sword in the replay with a 5-2 win. Walsall were then despatched to the tune of 4-0 in the following round and the Royals will be confident of continuing in a similar vein when they face the Baggies this weekend.

West Brom entered the FA Cup at the same stage and needed a replay to find a way past Bristol City, winning 1-0 after the original tie finished 2-2. Peterborough United also held them to a draw in the following round but the Baggies responded by knocking the Posh out of the competition at London Road, although a penalty shoot-out was needed to achieve this.

Looking at both of these sides, we’re expecting yet another draw in this clash and with this in mind, we’ll be going for the draw at odds of 12/5 with Bet365. Decent enough odds perhaps, although we expect you’ll fancy something a little meatier. Given that West Brom have been held to two 2-2 draws by lower-league opposition, why not back the same outcome on Saturday at 18/1 with BetVictor.
