Atletico Madrid’s Champions League campaign didn’t get off to the best of starts, however they finished atop Group C some three points above second-placed SL Benfica and look to have secured a relatively easy draw against Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven in the last-sixteen round.

Things have also improved in Atletico’s La Liga campaign with seven points from their last three outings, this following on from a four-game winless run and as such, the side will be confident of sweeping past their opponents in the Netherlands this evening.

Indeed, the timing of this match couldn’t be better, given Atletico’s excellent recent form although we feel that they will be in for a tough time against an Eindhoven outfit which helped knock Manchester United out of the competition by defeating CSKA Moscow in the final group game.

The Dutch side followed Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg out of Group B with wins in all of their group home games and they head into tonight’s game in high spirits following victory in each of their last eight domestic outings.

Can the Spaniards grab for themselves a valuable win on the road tonight? We believe that they can and Paddy Power make them favourites at 21/20, despite them being the away side.

Nevertheless, the hosts are enjoying some decent form of late and they will make life tough for Atletico. That said, the Spaniards have been excellent away from home with no away defeats in the group stages. In domestic competition, Diego Simeone’s men have won nine of their thirteen games on the road and we’re confident that they can emulate this away form this evening.

Our recommendation for this clash is backing an Atletico win-to-nil at 19/10 with Coral. The visitors have been particularly solid in defence and have managed clean sheets in five of their last seven matches, therefore we expect them to shut-out the hosts tonight.

Clearly we need to look at goalscorers and we don’t need to look too far. Antoine Griezmann is Atletico’s main goal threat and despite failing to score in his last two outings, he heads the scoring charts for the Spanish side this season with eighteen goals to his name since the start of the campaign. We’ll be backing Griezmann on the Anytime Goalscorer market at 9/5 with 888sport.
