Preston North End v Brighton & Hove Albion tips: Seagulls to soar at Deepdale
Can anyone stop Brighton in their tracks? Preston won't on Saturday afternoon
January 12th, 2017
Brighton & Hove Albion finished third in the Championship table last season with a goal-difference of just two separating them from the automatic promotion places and they suffered the heartbreak of falling to Sheffield Wednesday in the two legged play-off semi-final.
The Seagulls will be eager to go one better this season and they are giving a very good account of themselves so far. The Seagulls were expected to feature amongst the play-off contenders once again this season and they have far from disappointed thus far.
Chris Hughton’s men enjoy a lead of two points over Championship title rivals Newcastle United heading into this weekend’s match with a game-in-hand over the Magpies, however of arguably more significance is their eight point gap over third-placed Reading and the south coast side are looking nailed-on as far as automatic promotion to the top-flight is concerned.
They can further cement their position at the top of the Championship table on Saturday afternoon by securing the three points at Deepdale. Preston North End have been somewhat indifferent this season and currently occupy a mid-table position in the league, although they looked set to cause the upset of the FA Cup third-round when they took a seven-minute lead against Arsenal last weekend, only to fall to two Gunners goals.
They make a return to Championship duty this weekend with what will doubtless be a very tough encounter with the high-flying Seagulls although the Lilywhites have been pretty solid at Deepdale this term with three home defeats in the league since August. Nevertheless Hughton’s side have been utterly impressive both at home and away and we’re finding it rather hard to make a case for the hosts on this occasion. Brighton appear unstoppable and their bandwagon won’t be coming to a halt at Deepdale. North End have found the net in each of their last nine games and we believe that they will score this weekend, however this will be purely a consolation effort in what looks set to be yet another Brighton win.
