Saturday 23rd August 2014

Aston Villa v Newcastle United 12:45
Villa were widely tipped to struggle although an opening victory at Stoke was a huge three points and they have a winnable one here. However, Paul Lambert’s team look short of goals and Newcastle have enough about them to land a point.

PREDICTION: Aston Villa 1 Newcastle United 1

Chelsea v Leicester City 15:00
Jose Mourinho’s team went up the gears after going a goal down at Turf Moor and should prove too strong for a Leicester side who did well to claim a point at home to an attacking Everton side. Expect Cesc Fabregas to pull the strings and the Blues to claim another facile win.

PREDICTION: Chelsea 3 Leicester City 0

Crystal Palace v West Ham United 15:00
The Eagles will unveil Malky Mackay before Saturday’s game against the Hammers and it’s an ideal fixture to start with. West Ham made a balls-up of facing a ten-man Tottenham side last weekend and can be ground down in this encounter.

PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1 West Ham 0

Southampton v West Bromwich Albion 15:00
Ronald Koeman could have seen his team win at Anfield although the Saints should make no mistake against a Baggies side who struggled to a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland last weekend.

PREDICTION: Southampton 2 West Brom 0

Swansea City v Burnley 15:00
Garry Monk’s team were outstanding at Old Trafford and they should have the beating of a Clarets side still finding their feet in the Premier League. Expect an attacking game full of goals although most should come from the Welsh side.

PREDICTION: Swansea City 4 Burnley 2

Everton v Arsenal 17:30
The Gunners have a busy August schedule and a trip to Goodison Park is sandwiched between Champions League clashes against Besiktas, with the German World Cup winners expected back for this game. However, Everton are hard to beat at home and could be narrow winners here.

PREDICTION: Everton 2 Arsenal 1

Sunday 24th August 2014

Hull City v Stoke City 13:30
It could be a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show for Hull who have Europa League duties on Thursday and this could play into the hands of Stoke. The Potters are due a big improvement on the performance that saw City beaten at home to Aston Villa.

PREDICTION: Hull City 0 Stoke City 1

Tottenham Hotspur v Queens Park Rangers 13:30
Spurs won their opening match after a last-gasp winner at Upton Park and should build on this with another victory against the Hoops. Harry Redknapp returns to his old stomping ground to face a Tottenham team for whom Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela can make things happen.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 3 QPR 0

Sunderland v Manchester United 16:00
The Black Cats claimed a point at The Hawthorns and will be looking to expose a United side who looked distinctly average when losing 2-1 at home to Swansea last weekend. Robin van Persie should return for the visitors although the defence still looks vulnerable.

PREDICTION: Sunderland 2 Man United 2

Monday 25th August 2014

Manchester City v Liverpool 20:00
Can Liverpool claim victory at the Etihad? They were let down by defensive lapses last season and still look shaky despite the arrival of Dejan Lovren, although there is so much to like about the Reds going forward. The same can be said of City who will start with Sergio Aguero and might just edge this one again.

PREDICTION: Man City 2 Liverpool 1
