Portugal v Chile Preview & Tips
Who will prevail when the European champions lock horns with the Copa America winners on Wednesday?
June 27th, 2017
The FIFA Confederations Cup is rapidly approaching its climax and with just four teams now left in the competition, things really are hotting up.
The semi-final stage of the tournament kicks-off on Wednesday when European champions Portugal go head-to-head with Copa America winners Chile, both sides enjoying some excellent recent form. Portugal finished atop Group A with just two points dropped from their three group matches while Chile finished as Group B runners-up with five points to their name.
Indeed Chile will have been thoroughly disappointed with their 1-1 draw with unfancied Australia in their closing group game and they will be presented with a tough test from a Portugal side which have managed four clean-sheets in an unbeaten run stretching back five games.
Will Chile bounce back from their disappointing result against the Aussies or will coach Juan Antonio Pizzi succeed in restoring confidence ahead of this crucial game? We believe that it will be the latter and with Alexis Sanchez in the ranks, we can expect an attacking display from the South Americans.
Clearly Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo will also be looking to make a contribution to the scoreline on Wednesday and as a result, we expect the goals to be flowing in at the Kazan Arena.
This looks set to be a closely-fought affair with goals for both sides, however the momentum of Portugal should be enough to see them edge their way to victory and a place in the FIFA Confederations Cup Final.
