Nottingham Forest v Arsenal tips: Back Gunners win & BTTS
A tough trip to the City Ground awaits Arsene Wenger's men on Tuesday evening
September 19th, 2016
The EFL Cup usually throws up some cracking fixtures and Tuesday evening promises to be no different. Nottingham Forest welcome Arsenal to the City Ground in what promises to be a humdinger of a game, as well as an encounter which promises to give Gunners boss Arsene Wenger something of a headache.
Arsenal have built up some momentum of late and head into this fixture on the back of an unbeaten run stretching back five games across all competitions. An opening-day defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates has quickly been forgotten about and there now pervades an optimistic air at Arsenal, something which Wenger will be desperate to maintain.
Wenger’s headache will come from the tough decision he needs to make ahead of this match. The Frenchman will want to rotate his squad for this encounter but he won’t be wanting to lose to a Championship side, that’s for certain. Indeed, heading back from the City Ground having suffered a defeat would be a massive step back for the Gunners and as such we’ll be seeing the likes of Olivier Giroud, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka fight for a place instead of a bunch of youth players.
Alexis Sanchez will be given a rest but the Gunners replacements will be more than capable of finding a way through the Nottingham Forest defence. The main problem for the visitors is likely to be at the back and with Nottingham Forest sitting second in the Championship goal-scoring charts with 16 goals to their name, they’ll be confident of adding to this on Tuesday evening.
