Is this the moment that the Premier League claims its second managerial casualty of the season?

Alan Pardew will be glad that his team aren’t on television this weekend after last Saturday’s 4-0 reverse at St Mary’s led to widespread speculation that the Newcastle manager was one game away from the sack.

Owner Mike Ashley hasn’t moved to dispense with Pardew’s services yet and we should remember that a lucrative pay-off would be required to get shot of someone who is proving unpopular with supporters.

Newcastle should not be an even money chance on Saturday, with the team’s confidence shot after that hammering at the hands of the Saints.

William Hill offer 11/10 although it surely pays to consider Hull at a far meatier price, having looked lively on Monday night when drawing 2-2 at home to West Ham United.

Steve Bruce will have been encouraged by aspects of his team’s display and will now hope they can improve for the trip to St James’ Park, with Abel Hernandez having scored on his debut and the Uruguayan looks a tasty prospect.

The Tigers will sniff blood due to the current climate on Tyneside, with Newcastle also looking to go for the win and it should lead to an open game of football between these two teams.

Hull’s price of 3/1 looks terribly big considering their team is arguably better on paper than a Newcastle outfit who are missing the injured Siem de Jong and seem to be going backwards after a bright opening display against Manchester City.

If the visitors get an early goal, then the floodgates might open and we’re happy to take a chance on the 80/1 shot that is a 3-0 victory to Hull City, although we’ll also take the Tigers on the Draw No Bet market.
