Newcastle United v Bournemouth betting tips – No reprieve for under-pressure Magpies
Steve McLaren will still be feeling the pressure on Saturday afternoon
March 4th, 2016
Newcastle United’s season just doesn’t get any better does it. A 1-0 midweek defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium has left them very much in the mire and they sit second bottom of the Premier League with 24 points to their name.
The defeat to the Potters was their fourth loss in five Premier League outings and Steve McLaren will be under no illusion as to the situation facing his side. Indeed, points are desperately needed or they will be plying their trade in the Sky Bet Championship next season, simple as that.
Clearly much rests on the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s visit of Bournemouth to St James’ Park, however we’re far from convinced that McLaren’s side can manage anything from this must-win clash.
The Magpies did win against Bournemouth in the reverse fixture earlier this season, however we certainly won’t be backing them to repeat that feat this weekend.
Nevertheless, despite the Cherries beating Southampton in the South Coast derby on Tuesday evening, Eddie Howe’s men haven’t fared all that much better although they do enjoy an eight point gap between themselves and the bottom three and we feel that they will extend this at the weekend.
With these two sides possessing two of Premier League’s worst defences, we expect something to give at some point and with Bournemouth proving themselves more than capable of grinding out results against teams above them in the league table, we’ll be backing them to push Newcastle United further into the mire with a win at St James’ Park this weekend. Back Bournemouth to win at 15/8 with Bet365.
Don’t expect many goals though. A scrappy affair should see a Bournemouth win by a single goal, therefore we’ll be going for a 1-0 win for Eddie Howe’s men on Saturday afternoon at 19/2 with BetVictor.
