May 31st, 2017
Dick Advocaat is in the Netherlands hot-seat for a second stint and he will be desperate to get things off to a good start when his new charges take on Morocco at the Stade d’Agadir this evening. Advocaat takes control of a side which have been struggling in recent years and are in danger of missing out on a major international tournament once again, however will he succeed in bringing success to the Dutch national team?
The 69-year-old will be anxious to stop the slide although with just a solitary clean sheet from their last ten outings and three defeats from five matches things are looking rather bleak it must be said. OK so the Netherlands have impressed away from home with their 2-0 loss to Bulgaria being their first defeat in nine games on the road. They nevertheless head into this match on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Italy and they need to bounce back from this disappointment.
Advocaat certainly has no shortage of attacking options at his disposal with the likes of Memphis Depay, Vincent Janssen, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder certain to provide Morocco with plenty of problems and we are inclined to back the Netherlands to do the business tonight. That said, the hosts have triumphed in all-but-one of their previous five outings and with wins in ten of their last thirteen home games they are certain to provide serious opposition for the Dutch.
Morocco also possess quality in their ranks although we do expect the visitors to edge what should prove to be a thoroughly entertaining affair tonight.
