Middlesbrough v Tottenham Hotspur tips: Narrow win for Spurs
A Kane-less Spurs should have few problems sealing the points at the Riverside on Saturday
September 23rd, 2016
When it came to the crunch, Tottenham Hotspur stumbled in their 2015/16 Premier League title challenge, however they have started their current campaign in a similar manner to that which lifted them into third position last season and following their three wins and two draws they sit third in the table behind Everton and Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have lost star-player Harry Kane to injury and as such he will be out of action for this clash. Whilst this is undoubtedly a massive blow for Spurs, there is little doubt as to the quality available to the Tottenham boss and it will be left to the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Vincent Jansen to pile the pressure upon the home defence on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, Janssen scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 5-0 midweek EFL Cup win over Gillingham and the bookies are pretty optimistic about his chances of finding the net this weekend with most firms going 7/4 on the Anytime Goalscorer market.
Nevertheless, Kane’s absence will be a blow to the visitors and this will make sealing the three points against Middlesbrough a harder task than would otherwise have been. As such, we’re expecting a pretty low-scoring affair at the Riverside and while Spurs should have enough about them to seal the victory, it will be by the slenderest of margins. As such we’ll be opting for a 1-0 win for the visitors this weekend.
