Middlesbrough v Hull City tips: Expect a mauling for the Toothless Tigers at Riverside
Boro can grab themselves a vital home win this evening when they entertain Hull City
December 5th, 2016
The main priority for both Middlesbrough and Hull City is clearly to remain in the Premier League at the end of the season and as things stand the Teessiders are in with the best chance of achieving this goal. Nevertheless with just a single point separating these two teams as we head into tonight’s clash, a vital six-pointer should provide us with a somewhat cagey affair at the Riverside Stadium.
The Tigers may be away from home and they may be a point adrift of Middlesbrough, however they have shown signs of promise which would suggest that they shouldn’t be underestimated despite their recent dismal performances. Indeed we expect them show a bit of fight at the Riverside tonight and manager Mike Phelan will be taking positives from the fact that his side haven’t been beaten in their last three games at home, this run including an excellent victory over Southampton. The Tigers have also secured for themselves a place in the last four of the EFL Cup thanks to their penalty-shoot-out win over Newcastle United.
Phelan’s main cause for concern is his side’s away form and with the Tigers losing their last four away games in the Premier League with fifteen goals conceded and just two scored in reply, the omens don’t look good ahead of their visit to the Riverside tonight. Unless the situation improves quickly it will be increasingly likely that Hull City will be making an immediate return back to the Championship at the end of the campaign and we believe that they will be in for a tough time on Teesside tonight.
The hosts have amassed just four points from their last six home matches but they have lost just once in their last five outings and look excellent value at 17/10 to grab themselves another three points whilst managing a clean sheet to boot.
