Manchester United v Wolfsburg – Three points for the Red Devils tonight
United will enjoy home comforts against Bundesliga side Wolfsburg tonight
September 30th, 2015
Manchester United will be confident of making home advantage count when they attempt to bounce back from a thoroughly miserable night in the Netherlands in their opening Champions League encounter.
The Premier League leaders ( 25/1 to win Champions League ) couldn’t have made a worse start to this tournament as they went down 2-1 to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven with Luke Shaw suffering a horrendous injury during the match which will see him out of action for a lengthy period.
They desperately need to bounce back from this disappointing result tonight and we think that they will do just that against a Wolfsburg side which have have been inconsistent this season, although they opened their Champions League campaign with a decent 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow earlier this month.
This will be a tough clash for United and vice-captain Michael Carrick recognises this fact. “From what I have seen they are a good team,” he said to Inside United. “For German teams to qualify through that league they must be strong and you have got to take them seriously. It will be a tough game but there aren’t any easy games in the Champions League. We’ll look forward to it and approach it as we approach any group (game).”
Nevertheless, given that United head into this match on the back of three successive wins with nine goals scored during those matches, they will undoubtedly be in high spirits and should prove too strong for the visitors to Old Trafford tonight.
