Manchester City claimed the Premier League title last season and their two performances against Newcastle United and Liverpool give every indication that Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be up there again this term.
City claimed a 2-0 win at St James’ Park before beating the Reds 3-1 and they will be looking to sign off with a solid win against Stoke before the international break gives Pellegrini time to plan his next move.
The champions are practically unbackable at odds of 1/5 to win the game although 4/5 about them winning without conceding makes more appeal based on the team’s defending so far.
They shut out Newcastle on their own patch and conceded a consolation goal to Liverpool when 3-0 up. With Vincent Kompany marshaling a strong defence and the home side set to enjoy the bulk of possession, it looks a price worth considering.
Pellegrini is faced with a dilemma over who to field in attack, with Sergio Aguero having twice come off the bench to score for City, while Stevan Jovetic is a man in form and perhaps it could be worth taking a chance on the Montenegrin to score first at 4/1.
Stoke are struggling to get out of the blocks this term, losing at home to Aston Villa before drawing 1-1 at the KC Stadium, with Mark Hughes admitting that the two performances haven’t been up to scratch.
There’s a gulf between the odds on a 4-0 and a 5-0 on Saturday and we’re happy to take a chance on the latter, leaving Hughes with plenty of work to do over the international break.
