Manchester City v Steaua Bucharest tips: Citizens to progress into group stages
Will it be four wins from four for Guardiola on Wednesday evening?
August 22nd, 2016
Pep Guardiola has certainly enjoyed a spectacular start at the Etihad Stadium with three wins to his name already this season, however will it be a fourth when Steaua Bucharest come to town in this Champions League qualifying third round second-leg?
The City fans were expecting much from former Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola and they certainly haven’t been disappointed in the slightest. OK so City’s opening day Premier League win over Sunderland was far from convincing but the manner in which they disposed of Steaua Bucharest (5-0) and Stoke City (4-1) in their next two outings certainly was.
Unsurprisingly Guardiola is a happy manager following these wins and he had a word or two to say regarding the quality of his side.
“I realise how good the players are, I am a lucky guy because the quality of the players here is amazing,” Guardiola said following the victory over Stoke. “They run and fight for each other, and today we played in one of the toughest places of the season.
“It was a pity we created a lot in the second half but the last pass was not correct. It’s OK, we are going to improve. Our back four was very good but everyone was excellent.”
The first leg of this midweek Champions League clash was a good one for Sergio Aguero, however it could have been so much better. The Argentinian striker managed a hat-trick – no mean feat in this competition – however he also missed two penalties in what was an easy victory. Another easy win looks set to be the order of the day on Wednesday at the Etihad, although at odds of 1/5 a City win isn’t going to make you rich and one should look elsewhere for some value.
You can get your hands on 31/40 for Manchester City to win-to-nil at BetVictor and while the side may have managed just a single clean-sheet from their three outings this season, they weren’t tested much by Steaua in the first leg and we don’t anticipate this being any different at the Etihad on Wednesday.
Aguero must come into the equation when it comes to likely goalscorers and given that he has banged in six already this term including the opener against Sunderland, we’ll be backing Sergio on the First Goalscorer market at 5/2 with Paddy Power.
