Manuel Pellegrini’s side appeared to be heading for yet another bitterly disappointing European night when they were trailing 1-0 to German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach just a fortnight after a defeat to Juventus in their opening match in the competition.

Nevertheless, at the final whistle City sealed the points in Germany thanks to a goal from Martin Demichelis and a penalty from Sergio Aguero, this 2-1 win getting them up and running in their group.

Next up is Sevilla in what is a double header and if the hosts can grab themselves a minimum of four points from these two matches, they would be in very good shape to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.

Heading into their last European match, City had lost all but one of their previous four outings although they have now returned to winning ways having triumphed 6-1 against Newcastle United and 5-1 against Bournemouth at the weekend. This will be a cause of concern for Sevilla, given that it was Raheem Sterling who notched up a hat-trick on Saturday and with Wilfried Bony adding another two in that outing, it is clear that the injuries of David Silva and Sergio Aguero are of little consequence in this strong squad.

Saying that, Sevilla are a hugely effective team on the European stage, having clinched back-to-back Europa League crowns and taking Barcelona all the way in the UEFA Super Cup. They started this competition with a 3-0 win over Monchengladbach prior to losing 2-0 to Juventus, however they will certainly demand respect and shouldn’t be underestimated.

They currently sit mid-table in La Liga with just two domestic wins so far this season, one of these being against Barcelona and they will be full of confidence against a City side which isn’t at full strength at the moment. Either way, the Premier League favourites look to be returning to their best once again and we expect them to win on home soil tomorrow night with something to spare.
