Manchester City v Manchester United tips – take on the Citizens
United look worth a bet in the Manchester derby due to City’s poor form
November 1st, 2014
Louis van Gaal won’t be sending his players out for a point on Sunday, with Manchester United having a glowing opportunity to beat their rivals and stake a genuine claim for the Premier League title.
Last weekend’s draw with Chelsea was richly-deserved and Robin van Persie might have given his team all three points if he’d managed to beat Thibaut Courtois in the first half of the match.
As it turned out, the Dutchman’s injury-time effort was enough to land a draw and Van Gaal may now pair RVP with Wayne Rooney in a bid to get the better of a City team who have failed to win any of their last three matches.
Manuel Pellegrini sent out a strong team to face Newcastle on Wednesday night although the Capital One Cup holders bowed out meekly and the injury to David Silva makes them less backable for the derby.
Some might think the 10/11 about City with William Hill smacks of good value although the champions have already lost to Stoke at the Etihad this season and the 4-1 win against Spurs doesn’t tell the whole story, with Roberto Soldado missing a penalty to put the visitors 2-1 in front.
Manchester United are a 33/10 chance to claim the spoils, with LVG having reverted to a 4-2-3-1 formation which features the roving Luke Shaw on the left flank although Rafael da Silva continues to be a liability in the right-back position.
Going forward, there is plenty to like about the visitors, especially if Angel Di Maria can see plenty of the ball, while Marouane Fellaini will be setting out to reduce the impact of Yaya Toure much in the same way that he did against Cesc Fabregas last weekend.
We’re going for a United win and we’ll take them at 2/1 on the Draw No Bet market which gives us the insurance of money back if the game ends all square.
