Manchester City v Juventus Tips – Serie A giants no match for Citizens
Unstoppable City will take their excellent domestic form into Europe on Tuesday
September 14th, 2015
Manuel Pellegrini’s quest for European glory with Manchester City begins with a clash against Juventus at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening and the hosts should get themselves off to the best start possible in front of their home fans.
Despite spending big in recent years, Manchester City have failed to make much of an impression on the European stage, finishing third in the 2011/12 group stage and dropping into the Europa League the following season. They may have made it into the knockout stages in the past couple of seasons, but they desperately need to make it past the last sixteen to be considered a major player on the continent.
Failure to win last season’s Premier League has led to some more big spending and Pellegrini will be hopeful that his new signings of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi, Kevin De Bruyne and Fabian Delph can contribute towards some success in this season’s Champions League.
City will be given the chance to impress when they face the Serie A champions Juventus on Tuesday evening. Juve have dominated their domestic scene for several seasons, however they have waved goodbye to some decent talent this summer and have managed just one point from their opening three Serie A matches.
This is clearly an excellent time for City to be playing the Italian outfit and they can live up to their billing as ‘favourites’ even if Sergio Aguero plays no part following his limping-off during Saturday’s victory over Crystal Palace. Despite Aguero’s possible absence, we’re still confident of a home win. City have won all of their five Premier League matches and sit firmly atop the league table with no goals conceded and eleven scored, therefore we believe that they will shut-out a Juventus team which are looking far from their best.
