Manchester City v Borussia Monchengladbach tips: Seventh heaven for Citizens
It's been six straight wins for Man City this season. Will it be a seventh tonight?

Much was expected from Pep Guardiola at the start of the season and the fans can be content with what he has thus far delivered. A 6-1 aggregate thrashing of Steaua Bucharest saw the Citizens into the group stages of the Champions League once again and they currently sit atop the Premier League thanks to their derby win over arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
Guardiola is a bit of a task-master however and his demands are rarely met, even with the current successes of his new charges. “Until now, in the Premier League it has been OK,” said the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss. “But to compete against the best clubs in Europe, in this moment with the way we are playing, we are not able to. We have played part of most of the games at a high level, and of course we have to continue. If you ask me whether we are ready to compete in Europe, we are not ready. We create, but in front we need more. But it is just two months together, we have time to get better.”
City won’t be facing one of the continent’s elite sides this evening and the bookies are comfortably confident that a seventh straight win will be heading City’s way in this match with Betway going 9/20 for a home win.
Do we share their confidence? Indeed we do and whilst the Bundesliga outfit will be difficult to break down in Germany, they have been far from impressive away from home with no wins from last season’s away games in the group stages of this tournament. They suffered defeat to Freiburg at the weekend and another defeat looks to be the order of the day in tonight’s match.
As such, we’ll be going very much with the home side and the best option is to back City to win and both teams to score at 8/5 with William Hill. The Citizens have made a cracking start to their season but they haven’t been at their most solid in defence. Monchengladbach have found the net in each of their six games since the start of the season and it wouldn’t be a shock to see them score at the Etihad tonight, if only as a consolation.
Who else could be back as Anytime Goalscorer than Sergio Aguero, the Argentinian scoring in each of his first three games this season. Whilst he was suspended for the Manchester derby, he can play in this competition and whilst he offers decent value at 8/11 with Coral on the Anytime Goalscorer market, we’re drawn more towards the 3/1 from the same firm for him to open the scoring tonight.
