Malmo v Celtic Tips – A clean sheet the order of the day for Bhoys
A clean-sheet for Celtic and they will be through to the Champions League group stages. Not too much to ask is it?
August 25th, 2015
In reality, Celtic should be heading to Sweden tonight secure in the knowledge that they hold a two-goal cushion from the first leg at Celtic Park. That unfortunately isn’t the case however and a lapse in concentration led to a Malmo goal some five minuted into injury time.
Celtic went into a two goal lead in the first leg after just ten minutes with goals from Leigh Griffiths and Nir Biton and things were starting to look rather rosy for the Scottish champions. Jo Inge Berget pulled a goal back for the visitors but Celtic’s two-goal cushion was restored with a second Griffiths goal and that should have been it.
But it wasn’t. This tie is now very much up in the air and a Malmo goal tonight would pile the pressure very much on Ronny Deila’s men. Celtic should have too much for the Swedish outfit, however in the desperate hunt for goals mistakes can easily be made and the visitors need to be on their guard.
Griffiths has been on excellent form for the Bhoys this term with seven goals across all competitions, the player up for grabs at 11/2 with Paddy Power to break the deadlock tonight while he is 28/17 to score anytime.
Malmo will take the game to Celtic in the knowledge that a 1-0 home win would be sufficient to see them through to the lucrative group stages thanks to the away goal rule, however they obviously need to get this goal and are 4/5 with Bet365 to go into the lead.
Deila’s men desperately need a clean sheet in this match and they can be backed at 3/1 with Betfred that Craig Gordon keeps an empty net for ninety minutes.
