Liverpool are red hot at the moment, the Reds having fully bought in to Jurgen Klopp’s approach. The side are on a seven-game unbeaten run with wins in their last five matches and are having a fine old time of things in front of goal with sixteen goals in their last five outings.

The previous two Premier League champions have been swept aside during this time and the bookies responded by slashing their title-winning odds with most firms going around the 4/1 mark for Klopp’s men to finally clinch their first ever Premier League title. The German manager has his sights firmly on this prize.

“To talk about a wonderful final which we’ve won,” Klopp said to LFCTV when asked about his ambitions for the campaign. “To talk about a few great, great games which we’ve won. I cannot say the one thing that I wish would happen [winning the Premier League title], but if I say it, everybody goes nuts.”

Liverpool’s odds may have been cut but Manchester United’s have gone in the opposite direction following a disappointing run of form. The Red Devils kicked off their campaign in excellent fashion with four back-to-back victories, however the Jose Mourinho ‘honeymoon period’ has evidently gone and whilst they have managed some decent results since them, the 1-1 draw with Stoke City is a clear indication that there remains much work to be done at Old Trafford.

Can Liverpool maintain their excellent run and pile even more pressure on Mourinho or will United make a timely return to winning ways with a win over their bitter rivals on Monday evening? We’re leaning towards Liverpool here. The Red Devils appear to be very much a work in progress despite spending heavily during the summer, while Liverpool look to be something akin to a finished article, the side responding to the high-octane approach demanded by Klopp. They have triumphed in both of their home games this season with nine goals scored in front of the Anfield faithful and we believe that they will extend that to three successive home wins at the expense of Manchester United, although odds of 21/20 for a home win mean that we’ll be looking elsewhere for some meatier options on the betting markets.

One really should consider Ladbrokes’ 11/4 on a Liverpool win and both teams to score. The Reds have been banging them in with relative ease this season although they are clearly having issues at the back with no Premier League clean sheets since the start of the campaign. Indeed Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be relishing the prospect of facing such a leaky defence and he should fire United to a goal or two at Anfield, although not enough times to help them secure the points.

Liverpool’s great form up front means that we have several options from which to pick on the goalscorer market, the pick of the bunch perhaps presenting itself in the form of Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has proven to be an inspired buy from Southampton and with three Premier League goals to his name already for the Reds, we’ll be backing him to add at least another one to his season tally on Monday evening.

Our tips:

Back Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 11/4 with Ladbrokes

Back Sadio Mane to score anytime at 31/20 with BetVictor
