Liverpool v Leeds United tips: Reds to head into last four of EFL Cup
Liverpool will have few problems disposing of Leeds United on Tuesday evening
November 28th, 2016
Liverpool appeared in the 2015/16 League Cup final where they went head-to-head with Manchester City, however Jurgen Klopp was denied a trophy in his first season in charge of the Reds when his side were defeated in a penalty shoot-out. Fernandinho put Liverpool into the lead but this was cancelled out by Philippe Coutinho with just seven minutes left on the clock and extra time produced no further goals.
Perhaps the Reds can go one better this season and it is fair to say that they have enjoyed a relatively straightforward path to this stage of the competition with convincing wins over Championship sides Burton Albion and Derby County as well as victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Daniel Sturridge scoring a brace on that occasion. The Reds now face another Championship side in the form of Leeds United and we don’t envisage the West Yorkshire side managing anything from their Tuesday evening trip to Anfield.
The home side are understandably 1/5 odds-on to win in ninety minutes this week and whilst this isn’t an appealing price there are other ways in which to back Liverpool and grab yourself a healthy return. The most obvious of these is to back the Reds on the handicap market with Coral going 7/5 on Liverpool -2. Klopp’s men put a combined total of eight past Burton Albion and Derby County without reply and we believe that they will in similar fashion on Tuesday evening.
Daniel Sturridge may have been the obvious choice on the anytime goalscorer market although he is still struggling with a calf injury and instead we’ll be going for Divock Origi, the Belgium international ending a nine-match barren spell by banging in the first goal against Sunderland at the weekend and looking excellent value to score the opener on Tuesday evening at 15/4 with Bet365.
