Liverpool v Augsburg betting tips – Progression for Reds in Europe
Liverpool will be looking to go one better following a 0-0 draw in the first leg last week
February 24th, 2016
The Europa League action returns once again on Thursday evening as Liverpool welcome Augsburg to Anfield, the Reds refreshed following their weekend of rest.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had last weekend off thanks to their exit from the FA Cup at the hands of West Ham. Although the Liverpool boss will be less than happy that his side are no longer in England’s premier domestic cup competition, he will perhaps take consolation from the fact that his men have had seven days to fully prepare themselves for Thursday’s outing, following what has been a very hectic few weeks.
The next few days are also pretty hectic and Klopp will undoubtedly have one eye on the weekend Capital One Cup final clash with Manchester City. Nevertheless, the Europa League will be of the utmost importance to the German boss and he will be desperate to lift his side to a win following the goal-less draw last week, an achievable target given that despite the Bundesliga side hitting the post last week, the Reds were certainly the better of the two sides. Liverpool are best odds of 4/9 with William Hill to win on Thursday, not a great price perhaps but odds which should provide some return nevertheless.
Liverpool may have been utterly inconsistent of late but they will be facing an Augsburg outfit which are in a battle against relegation from the Bundesliga. The visitors enjoyed a weekend win over Hannover 96 but this victory came on the back of a winless run stretching back four games and we expect them to struggle against the Reds on Thursday.
Daniel Sturridge will be playing a part in Thursday’s clash and we’ll be backing him on the Anytime Goalscorer market at 23/20 with Ladbrokes. Another tempting wager is backing less than 2.5 goals with Bet365 going Evens for such an outcome. The Reds hammered Aston Villa to the tune of 6-0 in their latest Premier League outing at Villa Park but otherwise they have been less convincing and we expect a very low scoring encounter at Anfield on Thursday evening.
