Leicester City v Chelsea betting tips – More misery for Blues
The Premier League overachievers play host to the underachievers tonight
December 14th, 2015
Is there anyone out there who expected Leicester City to be amongst the genuine title contenders at this stage of the season? No? We didn’t think so.
Is there anyone out there who expected Chelsea to be a single point above the relegation zone at this stage of the season? No? We’re not surprised.
This has been an unbelievable season for both sides, but for very different reasons. The Foxes have suffered just one home defeat since the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as manager and they head in to this match on the back of a creditable 1-1 draw against Manchester United and two 3-0 wins over Swansea City and Newcastle United. Will they be in high spirits tonight? You bet they will!
Will these spirits be high enough to lift the side to three points against a Chelsea side who are on a very low ebb at the moment, at least in their domestic campaign. The Blues may be in the last sixteen of the Champions League thanks to their 2-0 win over FC Porto last week, but they are struggling in their Premier League campaign and head into this clash following a home defeat to new boys Bournemouth.
Let’s face it, Leicester City aren’t the best defensive unit in the Premier League and it is anyone’s guess for how long they can remain amongst the promotion contenders. Nevertheless, from being 5000/1 shots to lift the title before the start of the season, they are now just 33/1 and it wouldn’t be an upset in the slightest should they manage to clinch a maximum points haul against underachieving Chelsea this evening.
The visitors do have the talent required to get onto the scoresheet, although it is very questionable whether they have the confidence to seal the points. As such, we have confidence in backing Leicester City to win and both teams to score at 5/1 with Betfair.
Clearly the major factor in Leicester’s success has been man-of-the-moment Jamie Vardy, the former Fleetwood goalscoring sensation banging in fourteen goals in sixteen games. Despite this tremendous statistic, he is up for grabs at a highly generous 7/4 with Ladbrokes on the anytime goalscorer market.
The tables have been very much turned on these two teams. Chelsea are struggling at the wrong end of the table, while Leicester are flying high and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Will the Foxes grind to a halt anytime soon? They haven’t as yet and we don’t think they will tonight either.
