Kilmarnock v St Johnstone tips: Spoils shared at Rugby park tonight
Two mid-table sides look set to share the spoils when they go head-to-head at Rugby Park this evening
December 23rd, 2016
St Johnstone fought out a 1-1 draw with Motherwell in their last outing to extend their unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership to three games, however it will be of concern to the Saints that they have managed just a single win in their previous seven games and manager Tommy Wright will be hoping that his side can put an end to this winning drought when they visit Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park tonight.
The Perth side sit relatively comfortably in the top half of the Scottish Premiership table and with five points separating them from Kilmarnock as things stand, they will be confident of finishing the campaign with a top-half finish. Nevertheless defeat to Kilmarnock tonight would see the gap between the sides narrowed to just two points and Wright will be desperate not to let that happen.
Kilmarnock were struggling at the start of the season but they have lifted themselves up and sit just one point short of the top half of the Premiership table, however with things rather tight in the league table and just four points separating Killie from bottom-placed Partick Thistle, defeat for the home side could see them move further towards the danger zone.
Saying that, Kilmarnock have suffered defeat in just three of their last ten top-flight matches and these were all against top-three sides. The hosts can boast a good record on home turf so far this season and the previous meeting between these teams ended in victory for Kilmarnock, therefore we’re of the opinion that Killie could at least force tonight’s opponents to settle for a share of the spoils at Rugby Park.
