A cagey match will see Norway and Italy share the spoils tonight. Good news for the hosts, less so for the visitors.

Norway can only secure progress to the finals of the European Championship by defeating the Italians this evening, given that Malta won’t be expected to get anything from their clash with Croatia.

Nobody was in the leat bit surprised to see Italy qualify for next year’s finals, however top spot isn’t guaranteed despite a 3-1 victory over Azerbaijan on Saturday. Either way, they can head into the finals in high spirits following what has been a tremendous qualifying campaign.

Perhaps the main worry for boss Antonio Conte is how the team have performed in their recent friendlies over the past eighteen months, defeat at home to Portugal in their last outing and draws with some lower-ranked teams including Luxembourg causing some concern. Nevertheless, they remain clear favourites to win at home to a Norwegian side which have also enjoyed a decent showing in Group H.

Norway are in no doubt as to what they need to do to go through to the finals, although they also know that they have a fight on their hands. The reverse fixture in Oslo earlier in the competition saw the Italians return home with a 2-0 win under their belts and manager Per-Mathias Hogmo will be eager to avoid another defeat tonight. Indeed, both teams are much stronger in defence than attack and this will contribute to a low-scoring encounter. Italy need to win in order to finish top of the group while Norway need to triumph in order to avoid the play-offs, therefore we’re anticipating a rather cagey meeting at the Stadio Olimpico.

Italy haven’t been too prolific in front of goal recently with a mere four goals in their last five outings prior to the 3-1 victory in Azerbaijan, whilst Norway have scored a solitary goals in their previous five games. Therefore, we’ll be going for Under 2.5 goals at odds of 3/5 with Bet365.

Match ending in a draw – Betfred  5/2

Under 2.5 goals – Bet365  3/5
