Italy v Germany betting tips: Back stalemate at Stadio San Siro on Tuesday
Italy and Germany go head-to-head in a glamour clash in Milan on Tuesday evening
November 14th, 2016
In this summer’s European Championships, Germany made it into the last four of the competition courtesy of a penalty-shoot-out over Italy with Mesut Ozil scoring the opening goal for the Germans in the 65th minute and Leonardo Bonucci forcing extra-time by slotting home from the penalty spot thirteen minutes later.
Extra-time brought no further goals and it was left to a penalty shoot-out to separate the sides. Simone Zaza opted to choose a ‘tippy-toe’ penalty attempt and as is always the danger on these occasions he was left feeling somewhat red-faced after this attempt didn’t have the desired effect. Result – win to Germany. The question is, can he atone for this mistake on Tuesday evening? Only time will tell.
Either way we expect to see two strong starting elevens line up against each other in what promises to be an action-packed and thrilling encounter between two of the continent’s finest sides. Italian coach Giampiero Ventura will certainly choose his strongest possible team whilst Joachim Lowe will have a few absentees to contend with – most notably goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Jerome Boating, Toni Kroos and Julian Brandt will also play no part in this exchange and Low will thus need to look at some of his younger players such as Yannick Gerhardt and Serge Gnabry.
Germany beat the Italians 4-1 at home in their final match prior to the summer European Championships, although the Azzurri haven’t lost to the Germans on home soil since 1986 and we’re of the opinion that they can hold the world champions to a draw in Milan on Tuesday evening with Paddy Power going 12/5 that Italy v Germany ends all square.
