Ipswich Town v Blackburn Rovers tips: Tractorboys to brush aside Rovers
Blackburn's Championship woes won't be eased at Portman Road this weekend
January 12th, 2017
Owen Coyle’s appointment as Rovers boss in June 2016 hasn’t had the desired effect and there will be an air of disappointment surrounding Ewood Park. Rovers currently sit third-bottom of the league table and whilst their position isn’t exactly desperate, it is far from satisfactory as things stand. The fans are starting to become disillusioned and many have already resigned themselves to the fact that a relegation battle looms.
To be honest things could be much worse. Rovers sit just one point away from safety and they defeated title-challenging Newcastle United in their last Championship outing at Ewood Park, Charlie Mulgrew scoring the solitary goal of that match on 74 minutes. Indeed Blackburn remain the only team to do the double over Newcastle this season with Charlie Mulgrew banging in the winning goal on both occasions.
Will the Scot manage to find the net at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon? Indeed he might although any Rovers goals will probably be consolatory in a losing effort. Ipswich Town may not be solid in defence with no clean sheets in any of their last eight outings but their home form has been impressive with just three Championship defeats at Portman Road since the start of the campaign. They are certainly not hitting the heights of 2015/16 when they finished the season in seventh position but they are pretty solid on home turf and should edge this match.
Rovers may be sitting in the bottom three but they are having few problems finding the net with goals in all but one of their last twelve games in all competitions and as such, we’ll be backing them to score in an Ipswich victory on Saturday at 4/1 with Ladbrokes.
