Hungary v Russia International Friendly Preview & Tips
Can Hungary return to winning ways when they face Russia in an international friendly tonight?
June 5th, 2017
Hungary suffered a thorough thrashing at the hands of Portugal in their last outing with the European champions storming to a relatively easy 3-0 victory, however Hungary will be confident of bouncing back from this disappointment by grabbing for themselves a morale-boosting friendly win over Russia tonight at the Groupama Arena.
The Russians are certain to provide stiff resistance and won’t be a pushover but we feel that the home side can get something for their efforts. The Magyars have some crucial fixtures on the horizon with World Cup qualifiers against Andorra, Portugal and Latvia in the coming months and as such they will be aiming to build their momentum with a win this evening.
The visiting Russians have been something of a mixed bag of late and while they succeeded in holding a strong Belgium side to a draw in their last game thanks to the last-minute goalscoring exploits of Bukharov, we’re not too optimistic of their chances of heading home with a win tonight. Indeed the visitors haven’t won on the road since October 2015 and we’re of the opinion that this dismal away record will remain intact at the final whistle this evening.
Similarly we’re not too confident of the home side’s chances of securing a win tonight although a closely-fought high-scoring match should see the spoils shared and with that in mind we’ll be backing the draw with over 2.5 total goals at 12/1.
