Manuel Pellegrini’s team scored seven goals as they put Sheffield Wednesday to the sword on Wednesday night and that was mainly a reserve outfit, with several big guns set to return for Saturday’s match against Hull.

Pellegrini was left frustrated last weekend as the “small team mentality” of Chelsea led to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, although City should fill their boots against a Hull team who have become more attack-minded and stopped keeping things so tight on the road.

Steve Bruce’s team have had consecutive 2-2 draws against Newcastle and West Ham and this sort of defensive frailty will play into the hands of a team who can score a devastating amount of goals when given half a chance.

Manchester City have let down backers so far this season although odds of 4/7 about a win for the visitors looks like a price worth taking, with Sergio Aguero, Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany set to return to the first team which should give them extra charge.

City aren’t immune to conceding goals at the moment and Hull have found the net in every Premier League match to date which means both teams to score is an attractive bet at 10/11.

Indeed, the Tigers have scored twice in each of their last three matches, although Bruce must be tearing his hair out considering that his team are getting their noses in front only to concede goals and leads.

We think it could be worth going for a tasty correct score bet for the encounter at the KC Stadium, with a 3-2 win being available at 28/1 and a 4-2 victory a 50/1 chance and eminently possible based on previous scorelines.
