Hull City v Everton tips: Another defeat on cards for toothless Tigers
Hull City will be getting no respite from their recent woes when they host Everton on Friday evening
December 28th, 2016
In all honesty few people expected Mike Phelan’s men to manage anything from their home match against title-challenging Manchester City in the Premier League Boxing Day clash at the KCOM Stadium, although the manner in which the Tigers completely capitulated in the closing seventeen minutes or so will certainly have been of huge disappointment to the home supporters.
Pep Guardiola’s men were a long way from their free-flowing best but they were dominant throughout and once Yaya Toure had slotted home from the penalty-spot in the 72nd minute it was backs-to-the-wall for the hosts as they consigned themselves to yet another defeat.
The Tigers have now managed just one point from their last five games in the Premier League and they sit firmly rooted to the foot of the league table. Can they avoid anything other than another emphatic defeat on Friday evening? Given that they have conceded seven goals in their previous three games with none scored in reply, we’re not too optimistic about their chances against the Toffees.
Everton have been recording some decent enough results of late and despite a disappointing 1-0 to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby earlier this month they will be in high spirits following an excellent 2-1 win over high-flying Arsenal and a Boxing Day 2-0 win over Leicester City.
With no disrespect to the Tigers, we’re not anticipating anything other than an emphatic victory for the Toffees on Friday and it is pretty hard to make a strong case for even a consolation home goal. The Tigers are completely toothless and will be in very low spirits, therefore an Everton win seems attractively priced at 10/11 with BetVictor. Nevertheless the more adventurous would do well to consider a Toffees win-to-nil at 85/40 with the same firm and whilst there may not be a huge choice of likely scorers for the visitors, we believe that star-player Romelu Lukaku can add to the scoreline at some point.
