Hull City v Derby County tips – Wembley date looms for Tigers
Hull City are a small step away from a Wembley play-off final appearance
May 17th, 2016
Derby County may yet harbour slim hopes of making it through to the Championship play-off finals, however we’re not too optimistic about their chances.
Hull City swept the Rams aside in the first-leg of the play-off semi-finals on Saturday, Steve Bruce’s men storming into a 3-0 lead in what was a thoroughly one-sided affair. As such, they are very much in the driving seat heading into tonight’s clash at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers have certainly put their late-season slip-ups behind them as they prepare to make a swift return back to the Premier League, however that’s not to say that they don’t have a lot of work still ahead of them.
Derby County have a lot more work to do however and we don’t fancy their chances. Indeed, following the 3-0 thrashing at the weekend, they are looking fairly certain to be plying their trade in the Sky Bet Championship once again, unless they can manage a huge upset in the East Riding this evening.
Derby County may be given a glimmer of hope from the fact that they beat Hull at the KC earlier in the campaign, however any clinical edge which they possessed then appears to have disappeared and we don’t envisage a repeat of that outcome at the KC tonight, especially since the Tigers have lost just once in their last eight outings and will therefore be in very high spirits indeed.
We expect a thorough performance from the home side tonight, however we don’t envisage may goals at either end. The best option on the Anytime Goalscorer market looks to be on-loan Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom at 9/4 with Coral.
