It all started so well for Hull City. The manager-less Tigers were expected to struggle from the outset, on-field and off-field turmoil expected to take its toll on a side which had welcomed no significant arrivals since their promotion from the Championship at the end of the previous season.

Nevertheless, Hull embarked upon an impressive three-match winning run with victories over reigning Premier League champions Leicester City, Swansea City and Exeter City in the EFL Cup. A subsequent 1-0 defeat to Manchester United and a 1-1 draw with Burnley were far from disgraceful results and all looked to be pretty rosy in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Not so it would appear and following a two-game winless Premier League run, the Tigers are in desperate need of points as they slide precariously down the league table. Defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool may not be too much cause for concern in their own right but the manner in which the Tigers conceded nine times in those two games is more a cause for concern.

Can they bounce back with a win on Saturday afternoon? With Chelsea providing the weekend opposition the answer from us is a resounding NO. Clearly the bookmakers are having little problem choosing a winner at the KC Stadium and it isn’t the home side. Chelsea are 1/2 favourites to seal the three points and while this would almost certainly provide a winning return, it clearly isn’t all that generous.

Indeed, while Hull have been leaking goals by the bucketload, they have at least been finding the net in most of their games, the only exception to this being at home to Manchester United. As such, we’re pretty confident that the Tigers can manage a consolation goal against a leaky Chelsea rearguard in what looks very much like defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Our tip: Back Chelsea to win and both teams to score at 9/4 with William Hill
