Hibernian v Brondby tips – Battle for Hibs in Europa League qualifier
Scottish second-tier outfit Hibernian face Danish side FC Brondby in the Europa League qualifiers this evening and they look set to have a fight on their hands.
July 14th, 2016
Hibernian suffered relegation to the second-tier of the Scottish game three seasons ago, however they have had no success in returning back to the top-flight despite securing for themselves a play-off place in the last two campaigns. They nevertheless clinched the Scottish Cup for the first time in living memory and this victory earned for them a place in the qualification rounds for this season’s Europa League.
Neil Lennon has taken over from Alan Stubbs at Easter Road and he has steered the side to some decent pre-season results with a draw against Greenock Morton and an impressive 4-1 victory over Premiership outfit Motherwell. Can he lift his side to another win tonight against a Brondby side which are no strangers to European competition?
The Danes swept aside Icelandic outfit Valur in the previous qualifying round to the tune of 10-1 on aggregate. This morale-boosting win will have boosted confidence somewhat and it is hardly a surprise to see them start tonight’s match as firm favourites with 10Bet going 11/10 for an away win. Brondby’s failure to finish in the top three in their domestic campaign denied them a place in the Champions League, however they will be aiming to make amends by putting in some good performances in Europe’s second tier competition.
We do expect a few goals in this match given that Hibs are pretty good upfront but less than impressive in defence. Brondby have been banging in the goals of late with nine scored in their first three pre-season outings, this not including the ten they put past FC Valur earlier in their European adventure. Given that both sides possess attacking intent, we’ll be siding with 10Bet’s 13/15 for Over 2.5 goals.
On paper, Brondby look the stronger of the sides and we’ll be backing them to do the business at Easter Road tonight. They will almost certainly prove far too strong for their Scottish opponents and with goals expected for both sides, we’ll be going for a Brondby victory with both teams scoring at 7/2 with bet365.
