Havant & Waterlooville v Preston North End tips – back PNE to get the job done
No FA Cup shock tonight when Preston head to Hampshire
November 10th, 2014
Many football fans will recognise the name Havant & Waterlooville as it was just a few years ago when the non-league side embarked on an amazing FA Cup run.
During the 2007/8 season, the Hawks beat Bognor Regis, Fleet Town, Leighton Town, York City and Notts County before getting drawn away to Liverpool where they twice led at Anfield before losing 5-2.
Now the team are back for more giant-killing and they will make some cash from BT Sport televising tonight’s encounter against arguably the biggest team in the competition at this stage.
Preston are gunning for promotion to the Championship and BetVictor make them 4/9 favourites to win this particular encounter, with Simon Grayson looking for a professional performance from his side.
North End sit second in the League One table, having won four of their eight away games this term although a recent eight-match winning run was brought to an abrupt end when losing 3-0 at Rochdale.
This was followed by a 1-0 defeat at Swindon although we can expect the visitors to get back on the scoresheet, with Joe Garner having scored eleven goals so far for the Lilywhites.
Grayson said: “In this day and age, I don’t think there is a great deal of difference between the non-league and professional games.
“A lot of teams in non-league are full-time and have great facilities to work with.
“I don’t think there is as big a gap as there used to be.
“There’s no added pressure on the players. They get pressure from us on a daily basis to perform well and win games.
“Our players will be aiming to put on a performance because they want to stay in the team and be part of a winning team.
“And obviously we want to put our name in the hat for the second round.”
We’re fancying a few goals tonight and a win for the visitors and both teams scoring looks the best bet of all.
