Gibraltar v Republic of Ireland Tips – Win a must for O’Neill’s men
A win is a must for Ireland tonight, however with Gibraltar providing the opposition it shouldn't be too hard.

When Ireland met Scotland in June, the game was described as a ‘must win’ for the Irish. It ended in a 1-1 draw.
This outcome left the Republic in fourth place in their group and following three months the must-win situation still hasn’t changed. With a trip to Gibraltar tonight and Georgia visiting Dublin on Monday evening however, the Irish can clinch the points needed to keep the pressure on main rivals Scotland, Poland and Germany.
Martin O’Neill’s men have nine points from their six Group D games and they really need to have 15 when they face Poland and Germany next month. Nevertheless, providing there aren’t any upsets elsewhere, it looks as though the Republic will be battling it out with Scotland for third place in the group.
O’Neill’s assistant Roy Keane has stressed caution ahead of tonight’s match, stating that an FA Cup-style giant-killing is a remote possibility which must be avoided, pointing out that the Germans failed to find the back of the Gibraltar net for 28 minutes and only led 1-0 at the interval.
Saying that, Gibraltar have lost all of their six group matches with 34 goals conceded. Tonight will certainly be a case of damage limitation for the hosts and anything but an Irish win would be a shock of huge proportions.
