Georgia v Scotland Tips – Scots can outclass Georgians
Scotland hardly inspired in their defeat of Georgia in the autumn, however a much-improved side should make short work of the hosts on Friday
September 2nd, 2015
Gordon Strachan’s side are undoubtedly an improved outfit of late and they have a decent chance of moving into the automatic promotion places in Group D, given that leaders Germany will be facing second-placed Poland later in the evening.
Indeed, the Germans will be visiting Hampden Park next week and playing in front of what will certainly be a full house, therefore the Scots really do need a win on Friday evening to further help their case.
Strachan’s men haven’t been in action for almost three months, their 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland keeping alive their hopes of progression through to next year’s Euro finals in France. They are firm favourites to win this clash, Betfred going 21/20 for such an outcome, a fair price given that the hosts have suffered defeat in all but one of their first six qualifying games. Poland put them to the sword 4-0 in their last outing in June and Germany recorded a 2-0 win when they visited Georgia in late March.
Does all of this point towards a Scotland win? Clearly it does, although it may not be quite as emphatic as Georgia’s most recent defeats. Indeed, the visitors lack clear firepower within their ranks although they should find little in the way of opposition from a side which have conceded ten without reply in their last three outings.
It may not be pretty, it may actually be rather scrappy, however a Scotland win is very much on the cards and the pressure will certainly be on Germany and Poland when they kick off later on Friday.
