Fulham v Watford preview – Hornets losing run set to continue
Watford set to struggle at Craven Cottage on Friday night
December 4th, 2014
Watford have had a month to forget, with the Hornets losing their last four matches after beating Millwall 3-1 on 1 November.
Slavisa Jokanovic has struggled to stop the rot, with defeats at Birmingham and Ipswich followed by home reverses against Derby and Cardiff City. The goals have temporarily dried up despite Matej Vydra and Troy Deeney lining up in attack.
A couple of months ago, Watford would have been strong favourites to win this game although bet365 go 11/5 about an away win in front of the Sky Sports cameras, with the Hornets looking to end their run of defeats.
Fulham will be the team being backed for this encounter, with bet365 offering 13/10 about a win for the Cottagers and they are enjoying a new lease of life under Kit Symons who certainly hasn’t lost hope of them reaching the top six this season.
Ross McCormack was probably overpriced when arriving at the Cottage for £11 million although there are few better strike pairings in the division than him and Hugo Rodallega, with Symons confident that the team can have a good Christmas period.
The former Wales international said after last weekend’s 2-1 victory at Brighton: “We will keep trying to improve on every aspect of the game. We want to get up in a decent place and are certainly going in the right direction.
“In this league you’re never out of a relegation battle until you’re safe and the players must not be complacent. You can get sucked into a scrap and I’ve seen both sides of it.”
“The boys showed real good character after we didn’t start well. We weren’t clinical enough but our two strikers were excellent in the second half.”
