Feyenoord v Manchester United tips: No easy ride for Red Devils
A second -string United side will struggle in the Netherlands tonight
September 14th, 2016
Defeat to Manchester City in the weekend derby match was the first taste of disappointment for Jose Mourinho in his capacity as Red Devils boss and he will be anxious to bounce back from that defeat as quickly as possible.
The question is, will he afford the Europa League the respect that it deserves or will he perhaps see it as a hindrance to the important task of Premier League success at all costs.
We feel that it could well be the latter and a second-string United side will take to the field at Feyenoord on Thursday evening with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba watching from the bench.
Ok so Marcus Rashford has shown that he has what it takes to find a way past opposing defences, however the teenage sensation can’t win matches on his own and it could be worthwhile opposing the Red Devils on this occasion.
Indeed, the Dutch hosts are enjoying an excellent winning start to their domestic campaign and with five wins from five matches they will be brimming with confidence. This match is being billed by the English media as a potential ‘banana skin’ and that is exactly what it could prove to be.
Feyenoord finished third in the Dutch top-flight last season and whilst it could be argued that they are a couple of levels below Manchester United, we expect Mourinho to leave a few of his stars on the bench. A few young hungry players could have the appetite for a fight and this could prove a perfect situation for them to impress, however we feel that the hosts will be in no mood to see their winning run come to an end and their confidence should be enough to carry them to three points on Thursday evening.
