Everton v QPR tips – Toffees too slick for toothless Rangers
Queens Park Rangers only do one thing away from home and that is lose
December 15th, 2014
Everton are dwelling in thirteenth place ahead of Monday night’s clash against QPR, although they are strong favourites to claim three points and leapfrog Liverpool into tenth place.
Roberto Martinez gave his first-team players the night off for Thursday’s Europa League dead rubber against Krasnodar, with the Toffees now set to get themselves back to winning ways after taking just a point from the last three matches.
Everton are no bigger than 1/2 to win tonight’s game, although you can get a much meatier 6/4 about them winning without conceding and it’s difficult to see QPR creating or scoring many chances in this game.
After all, Charlie Austin is suspended and Rangers have only scored two goals all season on the road, suffering some heavy defeats at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford.
Rangers will be looking to shut up shop, although we should expect Everton to create plenty of chances, with Martinez looking for a “strong, confident performance”.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “We enjoy playing at home because it’s your environment and you can affect things a lot easier.
“Every game is difficult. I know it’s a cliche but it’s true. In every other league you can count two or three games a season that maybe you can cruise through. That doesn’t happen in the Premier League.
“We need to be a team that are capable of getting points away from home as well as at home but it’s true that at the moment, points wise, we’re not reflecting what we want and we’re catching up a little bit.
“That means that we need to get a big run of good results and that starts with a strong, confident performance at home.
“We’re getting very close to the halfway point of the season, the squad is strong, we’ve had a lot of good experiences, the competition for places is huge and I do feel we’re ready to set really high standards in the league that I believe are going to give us the points that our performances would deserve.”
