Everton v Norwich City Tips – Toffees can overcome lacklustre Canaries
Everton will put a lame Canaries side to the sword in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening.
October 26th, 2015
It hasn’t been a good month for Norwich City. After a relatively decent start to the season, the Premier League new boys are struggling with three successive defeats, losing 2-1 to Leicester City, 6-2 to Newcastle United and 1-0 to West Brom, teams which they should in reality have been taking points from should they harbour realistic ambitions of remaining in the top flight.
They will struggle on Tuesday evening against a strong Toffees side in the Capital One Cup, Goodison Park boss Roberto Martinez making it clear that he values this tournament as a means of bringing some much-needed silverware to the club, as demonstrated when fielding a strong side against Reading in the last round of the competition.
We expect a strong Everton side on this occasion with Gareth Barry and Phil Jagielka likely to be the only absentees at Goodison due to suspension and injury. With the Toffees not in action until Sunday, we should witness the appearances of Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley amonhst others, proof indeed that Martinez will be affording this clash all the importance that it deserves.
As already mentioned, Norwich City are starting to seriously struggle and boss Alex Neil will be expected to focus his key players on the forthcoming Premier League fixtures, with the result that the Canaries side will feature a host of fringe players and youngsters.
All of this doesn’t exactly point towards a Norwich win and the Toffees shouldn’t in reality have too many problems to overcome. Indeed, we feel that the home fans may have quite a lot to cheer as the visitors’ net bulges on more than one occasion.
