Everton clinched their first victory in four games when they knocked League Two side Carlisle United out of this season’s FA Cup in Sunday’s fourth round clash at Brunton Park, however they will face much tougher opposition this evening in the form of Newcastle United.

Indeed, Everton’s last Premier League win was at St James’ Park on Boxing Day when Roberto Martinez’ men secured the three points with a 1-0 victory, Tom Cleverley scoring the only goal of the match in the third minute of stoppage time. Since then they have lost two and drawn three in the top flight, resulting in a drop down the Premier League table to twelfth.

Clearly, the Toffees need to return to winning ways and the visit of Newcastle United to Goodison Park tonight will give them a great opportunity to do just that.

The Magpies are struggling badly in the top flight this season and they currently sit two points from safety in the bottom three following some dismal performances. They haven’t managed back-to-back wins since December, however they have been splashing the cash in the January transfer window, although whether this will lift them out of the drop zone anytime soon remains to be seen. Newcastle United are outsiders at 22/5 with BetVictor to win tonight.

To be honest, we can’t see the visitors getting much from this game, given that they have failed to win away from St James’ park since early December. Their last victory on the road was at White Hart Lane where they defeated Spurs 2-1 and with this being just one of two away wins this season, we don’t see them managing a third on Merseyside this evening.

Nevertheless, the Toffees are struggling to keep clean sheets at Goodison Park this season with the 4-0 defeat of Aston Villa in November being the last time they managed to keep the opposition at bay in the Premier League. As such, we believe that the Magpies will get on the scoresheet and we’ll backing Everton to win and both teams to score at 21/10 with Sky Bet.
