Everton v Chelsea Tips – Another slip-up for Mourinho’s men
After last season's charge to the title, can the good times return to Stamford Bridge?
September 8th, 2015
Four points from four games isn’t a statistic which Jose Mourinho would have been expecting at the start of the new season. It isn’t one that he will be happy with either.
Can things improve any time soon? Everton will be determined to prove that they won’t and will be confident of sealing the points when the west London side make the journey to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, Roberto Martinez’ Toffees side have started their campaign in excellent fashion, triumphing 3-1 away to Southampton and returning draws against Spurs and newly-promoted Watford. Their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City aside, they have certainly impressed with both Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley looking very lively and the rearguard seeming particularly solid.
In contrast, the defensive capabilities of Chelsea have been less than secure this term with at least two goals conceded in each Premier League match so far, therefore we won’t be backing the visitors to get anything from this match and are happy to side with the Merseysiders on this occasion to do the business. John Terry has been badly exposed thus far in the campaign and Chelsea will be looking to Pedro to install some much-needed sparkle into the side.
The corresponding fixture last season ended with a 6-3 victory for Chelsea, however the threat of John Stones in the centre-half position would suggest that the Toffees will prove to be a tougher opponent this season.
