England v Wales betting tips – Three Lions to hit right note in Lens
England ready to make amends for that 1-1 draw with Russia by beating a spirited Welsh side
June 15th, 2016
A Group B victory on Thursday would mean England are in the box seat to win the section and engineer a last sixteen match against a third-place team.
While the Three Lions stumbled against Russia on Saturday, Roy Hodgson’s side were guilty of little more than failing to finish off a side who offered little moving forward until that late equaliser.
Wales on the other hand got a bit lucky. They could have been trudging off the pitch having tasted defeat and Chris Coleman knows that was a bonus three points considering Slovakia were in the driving seat at 1-1.
Hal Robson-Kanu did make a difference when coming on and the temptation will be to employ the Reading wide man in this match, although there won’t be too many changes to the side that won their opener.
Hodgson could be tempted to shuffle his pack a little, with Raheem Sterling having a stinker against the Russians even if his pace is a clear asset.
Jamie Vardy and Jack Wilshere are among those chomping at the bit to start, with Wayne Rooney set to operate in central midfield and it is hoped that Harry Kane will get opportunities to score.
Ultimately, England are a better team both as a collection of individuals and the way in which they can play as a side.
The England odds are short but we’re going to back them to shut out Wales in this game, with the Three Lions likely to dominate possession and keep Gareth Bale quiet.
