England v Norway tips – big win on cards for Three Lions
Roy Hodgson’s new team should enjoy easy friendly victory against Norwegians
September 1st, 2014
It might be a small attendance at Wembley on Wednesday night although England look ripe to score a few goals, especially if the attacking trident of Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge can click into gear.
The Liverpool trio helped their team to a 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane on Sunday and along with Wayne Rooney, there should be plenty of menace against a Norway side who weren’t particular impressive during qualification for the 2014 World Cup.
The Scandinavians finished fourth in a group including Switzerland, Iceland and Slovenia, with a distinct lack of top-class players in their squad.
Former Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen is the most experienced player in the squad, with the 32-year-old now plying his trade for Rosenborg, although there is a distinct lack of goals and Tarik Elyounoussi is the most dangerous threat.
England are a 6/4 chance to win this friendly to nil and Hodgson has talked of the importance of getting the supporters back onside, while the back four actually looks decent when you consider that Cahill, Jagielka and Baines are reporting for duty.
Calum Chambers could slot in at right-back, with Jack Colback, Fabian Delph and Danny Rose also hoping to earn their first cap, although this could be the night where Sterling opens his account for the first time in an England shirt.
