England v Malta tips – Southgate’s Three Lions will hammer minnows
Gareth Southgate's spell as caretaker England boss will get off to a winning start at Wembley on Saturday evening.

England have never been far away from drama and humiliation over the past few months and they will come under much scrutiny when they welcome to Wembley a side ranked 176th in the world by FIFA.
The national side are at something of a low ebb as they head into their second World Cup qualifying match and while Sam Allardyce led the Three Lions to a last-gasp victory over Slovakia last time out, it will now be down to Gareth Southgate to steer the side to a second successive victory following the sacking of ‘Big Sam’.
Southgate made clear during the summer that he didn’t wish to be considered for the then-vacant England job, however he now finds himself in temporary charge following Allardyce’s departure and with the position up for grabs once again, he finds himself 7/4 favourite to take charge on a permanent basis.
On the pitch, the Three Lions could be a much changed side to that which won against Slovakia last time out with Marcus Ashford likely to be handed a place up front in the starting line-up as reward for his excellent form for Manchester United.
Malta have failed to qualify for a major international tournament and following their 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Scotland in their opening qualifier, we believe that another more emphatic hammering may well be on the cards on Saturday.
One could assume that the outcome of this encounter is pretty much a foregone conclusion, however the performance of the England side will be judged heavily and a bucketload of goals would do much to lift spirits in the home camp.
England are a best price of 1/33 to win on Saturday, leaving punters with little option but to head towards the handicap market with England -4 looking well priced at 11/8 with 888sport.
Rashford found the back of the net in England’s friendly against Australia earlier this year and given that he will be trying to impress and stake a claim for a more regular slot in the team, we believe that he will take the many chances presented on Saturday to add to the scoreline at some point.
