El Salvador v Curacao Preview & Tips
El Salvador face Curacao in the Gold Cup on Friday with both sides looking for their first points in the tournament
July 12th, 2017
Neither El Salvador nor Curacao have managed to collect a single point as yet in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and should this prove to be the case for either side at the final whistle on Friday then they will be heading out of the tournament. El Salvador suffered an opening-game defeat to current champions Mexico earlier this week although it must be said that they gave a decent enough account of themselves in the 3-1 defeat and we envisage that they can produce an impressive performance against Curacao on Friday.
El Salvador are nevertheless winless in their last four international outings and whilst a few positives can be taken from their opening game, they will need to be at their very best in order to avoid dropping out of the competition this week.
For their part, Curacao kicked off their first Gold Cup campaign in poor fashion with a 2-0 loss to Jamaica and whilst this defeat put to an end a three-game unbeaten run, Curacao coach Remko Bicentini will be demanding that his men look to positives from that defeat and bounce back in emphatic fashion.
Nevertheless whilst this match looks set to be a closely-fought affair, El Salvador possess the edge in terms of experience and quality within the ranks, therefore we’ll be backing them to secure a vital win over Curacao in Denver on Friday.
