Chelsea may have returned to winning ways at the weekend with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa, however this result will have done little to relieve the pressure on boss Jose Mourinho following a less than convincing start to the season. They started their Champions League campaign reasonably enough with a somewhat routine win over Maccabi Tel Aviv, although this was followed by a less-than-impressive defeat at the hands of FC Porto, the Blues boss bemoaning the ‘ridiculous mistakes’ which his side made on that occasion.

“I think it was a good performance with two ridiculous mistakes and we were punished,” Mourinho said following the defeat to his former club. “Those mistakes were difficult to accept. The basic thing in football to work at is a defensive set-play: the ball is stopped, you defend the spaces or the man or both, so to concede the second goal was like ice in the players. But they reacted in a positive way and tried to get a result. This is a difficult place to win matches. I think the team played well.”

The Blues are now a point adrift of both Porto and Dynamo heading into their third Champions League game, therefore defeat this evening would be a massive setback to Chelsea’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition. The bookies certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen, Sky Bet making Dynamo 7/4 favourites to win with Chelsea 9/5 and a draw up for grabs at 12/5 with Bet365. To be honest, we’d avoid the outright winner market because anything is really possible with Chelsea at the moment.

A much better option can be had with Both Teams to Score at 10/11 with 888Sport. This may not be exceptional value, but it is a very solid one given that Kiev tend to concede against strong opposition whilst Mourinho’s side have been pretty poor at the back this term.

Another wager worthy of serious consideration is going for over 2.5 goals at 22/19 with 888Sport. Dynamo matches are rarely short of goals with all but one of their last seventeen outings seeing more than two goals, therefore they can certainly cause a few problems for a Chelsea rearguard that has kept just two clean sheets since the start of the campaign. On the other hand, the Blues should find it relatively straightforward against a Kiev defence which has been found wanting when facing some of the bigger sides and we could well see at least three goals tonight.

BETTING TIPS – Over 2.5 Goals – 888Sport – 22/19
