Derby County v Chelsea tips – Blues too good for Rams tonight
Jose Mourinho set to field a strong XI at Pride Park this evening
December 16th, 2014
Gary Cahill is the only first-team player who won’t be involved in tonight’s Capital One Cup encounter, with Chelsea prepared to field a strong team in their bid to win the first piece of silverware this season.
Jose Mourinho has plenty of time for this particular competition and Chelsea won’t be taking too many risks with their team considering that Derby will be super-charged for an upset.
“We don’t have problems. The players are fit, the players are not tired, the players are in good condition so no special reason not to go with a strong side,” manager Mourinho told the club website (www.chelseafc.com) on Monday.
“It is a sign of respect for Derby, it is a sign of respect for the competition because I don’t think this cup deserves other things than we always show for the competition.
“At this moment we don’t speak about any other competition, we just speak about the Capital One Cup. It is a difficult opponent and we have to go with a strong side.
“This is a cup match, a quarter final, big motivation for them and we have to equal that motivation so our bigger talent can win.”
That could see Diego Costa continuing in attack, with Cesc Fabregas back from suspension for this game, while Cezar Azpilicueta might also be involved after sitting on the bench during the 2-0 win against Hull on Saturday.
Derby are a 7/1 chance with bet365 to win the game, although Steve McClaren admits that his team need to be at their very best to claim any sort of result from the match.
We like the look of a Chelsea win to nil, which was a result they managed against the same team last season when the sides met in the FA Cup.
