Cyprus v Wales Tips – Welsh can be relied upon to deliver the goods
Gareth Bale can help his side to another victory on Thursday
September 1st, 2015
Much has been happening in the principality of late. Cardiff City have been in the Premier League. Swansea City are still in it and doing rather well. Gareth Bale has lifted the side to undreamt of heights under manager Chris Coleman and everything is looking rather good.
Can this upturn in fortunes continue in their Euro 2016 qualifier in Cyprus on Thursday evening? There’s no reason whatsoever to believe it won’t.
Indeed, the Welsh have surprised everyone, not least themselves perhaps with a string of shock wins and draws, the most notable being their victory over a strong Belgium side.
The big question mark over this upcoming match is one of complacency. Cyprus may sit fourth in their group following three wins and three defeats, however they will pose Wales a tough challenge and the visitors need to be on their guard.
The two sides clashed in October last year, the Welsh storming to a 2-0 lead but struggling through most of the second half with just ten men and finishing 2-1 winners in a match which in reality could easily have gone either way.
Nevertheless, the Welsh have shown what they are capable of and with strength in all quarters, they should prove too much of a handful for Cyprus, especially with that man Gareth Bale on the prowl.
Wales have progressed through this qualifying campaign in leaps and bounds and their 3-0 win over Israel was illustrative of their new-found capabilities. It will be a very tall order for the hosts to get anything from this match and we don’t anticipate that they will.
