Crystal Palace v Swansea City Preview & Tips
Crystal Palace are still searching for their first Premier League points but we're not confident of their chances of getting them this weekend
August 25th, 2017
Crystal Palace’s start to the new season was pretty abysmal and they were three goals in arrears against Huddersfield Town before the Eagles players even had a clue what boss Frank de Boer was actually wanting them to do. They put in an altogether more convincing performance against Liverpool in their last Premier League outing and appeared to be more organised at the back. Palace Keeper Wayne Hennessy still had to put in a sterling effort to keep the scoreline respectable but the Eagles certainly displayed plenty of positives and a subsequent 2-1 win over Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup was certainly a solid performance which can be built upon this coming weekend.
Crystal Palace will be seeking their first Premier League points of the season when Swansea City come to town although whilst Paul Clement’s side were on the receiving end of a 4-0 hammering by Manchester United last weekend, they matched the Red Devils in the first half and could consider themselves unlucky not to have gone in at half-time with a 1-0 lead under their belts.
Once the Swans went behind their heads dropped and Jose Mourinho’s men had much more freedom to move around and dominate proceedings, the result of which was that they had a field day in the closing minutes with three more goals coming their way.
Clearly Crystal Palace are hardly Manchester United and should the Swans put in a similar performance to that which they displayed in the first half of last week’s outing against the Red Devils, then they should do enough to win at Selhurst Park.
Indeed the Swans are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Crystal Palace and we’ll be backing that trend to continue at the generous price of 7/2 with Betfair.
